Google Ads management in St. Clair County, MichiganGoogle Ads for St. Clair County businesses on a border with Canada.

Google Ads management in St. Clair County has a border to manage. The St. Clair River separates the county from Ontario, and Interstate 94 and Interstate 69 both end at the Blue Water Bridge approach in Port Huron, so loose targeting can put your ads in front of Canadian searchers.

Google Ads in St. Clair County: what decides who gets the call

St. Clair County lines the west bank of the St. Clair River, with Lambton County, Ontario, across the water. A radius drawn around Port Huron or Marysville can cover part of Ontario, and Google's default location option can also show ads to people elsewhere who are interested in your area. For a business that works only in Michigan, we target named communities, limit ads to people in or regularly in them and exclude Ontario.

Contractors are a big part of the local field. In 2023, 428 of the county's 3,080 establishments were construction firms, including 286 specialty trade contractors, plus 113 businesses providing services to buildings such as landscaping and cleaning. Population was nearly flat, at 160,308 in 2024. In a stable market, growth comes from winning a bigger share of the searches that already happen, so every wasted click matters.

The county stretches from Port Huron (28,342 residents in 2024) and Fort Gratiot Township (11,693) to Marysville, St. Clair, Marine City and Algonac, and inland to Capac and Yale. Macomb County next door is a much bigger market, and its companies can bid on searches in your towns too. We keep your home area and any expansion areas in separate campaigns, so each area's cost per booked job stays visible.

What we would do first

The first things we would work on, before spending more money on reach.

Exclude Ontario, then verify

Limit ads to people in your Michigan areas, exclude Ontario and confirm with the location report after launch.

Community targeting by name

Target Port Huron, Fort Gratiot, Marysville, Kimball, Clay Township and the towns you serve, instead of a radius that crosses water.

One campaign per service

Each core service gets its own campaign, ads and landing page, so you can see which work the ads actually book.

Calls counted to the job

Track ad calls and forms, then mark booked jobs, so bidding favors searches that become customers.

Why are my ads showing to people in Ontario?

Usually because the targeting uses a radius or Google's default location option. Switching to people in or regularly in your Michigan communities and excluding Ontario stops most of it. The location report in Google Ads confirms where clicks come from.

Should I advertise in Macomb County too?

If you take work there, add it as a separate campaign. Macomb is a much larger market, so its clicks can eat a small budget fast. Keeping it separate protects your St. Clair County results.

Do you have clients near St. Clair County?

Our nearby work includes Bubbles Auto Spa in St. Clair Shores and One Stop Customs in Warren, Macomb County clients where our work covers the website and Google Ads. One Stop Customs' published record shows 146 tracked conversions from Google Ads.

What is the minimum budget?

We recommend at least $1,200 a month in ad spend, paid directly to Google and separate from our flat management fee. In St. Clair County that can cover a couple of core services across the communities you serve.
