A Technical SEO Launch Checklist
A release is ready for search review when the intended pages are publicly reachable, indexable, correctly identified, and connected through working links.

A release is ready for search review when the intended pages are publicly reachable, indexable, correctly identified, and connected through working links. A successful build alone does not establish any of those outcomes.
Inspect the intended URL set
List new, retained, changed, and retired URLs. Check HTTP status, canonical destination, robots instructions, sitemap inclusion, and any accidental preview-domain references. Give each indexable page a clear title and one primary heading. Keep private drafts and utility destinations outside the indexable inventory.
Verify the customer-visible release
Open representative pages on mobile and desktop, then check all internal destinations automatically where practical. Inspect readable content, image sizing, navigation, and contact actions. Validate structured data against the visible business facts. A schema block should describe the page, not claim reviews or results that are absent.
Check the published host
Repeat the critical checks on the production domain after deployment. Confirm that the sitemap lists the live canonical URLs and submit it through the verified search property when appropriate. Keep deployment evidence and a rollback reference. Discovery and indexing remain later search-engine decisions.
A working decision record
| Situation | What to inspect | Useful next step |
|---|---|---|
| New page | Status, canonical, and links | Verify the live destination |
| Retired URL | Relevant replacement mapping | Test the redirect behavior |
| Structured data | Visible page facts | Remove unsupported properties |
What to check before calling the work complete
- Inventory intended URLs.
- Check indexing controls and internal links.
- Test the production contact path.
- Keep a dated live-release verification record.
A practical question
Does sitemap submission mean every page is indexed?
No. Submission helps communicate the URL inventory. Discovery, crawling, indexing, and ranking are distinct outcomes that need their own evidence.
