The decision to make

Translate the territory you can actually serve into campaign settings, then inspect the traffic those settings produce. A selected location is a targeting signal, not a perfect boundary around every person who sees an ad.

Draw the operating map first

List accepted towns or postal areas, dispatch limits, travel costs, and exceptions for larger projects. A restoration crew and a remodeler may accept different travel distances. Keep office location separate from customer territory. Do not expand a campaign simply because a broad regional label looks attractive in the interface.

Review the location option

Google offers options involving presence and interest. Read the selected option in the account and decide whether it fits the business. A service company that needs customers physically in its territory often has a different requirement from a destination business. Save the setting with the campaign plan, including exclusions and any overlapping campaigns.

Compare settings with real inquiries

Review available location reporting and the service address supplied by customers. Google uses multiple signals, so targeting is not an exact geofence. If unsuitable locations recur, inspect settings, queries, and page coverage language together. A page that implies nationwide field service can create confusion even when the campaign map is narrower.

What to check before calling the work complete

  1. Write the actual service territory.
  2. Read the selected location option.
  3. Review exclusions and overlap.
  4. Compare delivered inquiries with the operating map.

A practical question

Should the website claim an office in every target city?

No. Explain where the business serves customers using its real operating model. Targeting a place does not establish a staffed office there.
